Being green doesn't necessarily mean changing lamps!
It's selecting the right lamp for the right task!

A Manufacturer Sees (or rather does not see) The Light

Is the endless support for the LED as the future for all lighting finally coming to an end? I have been sent the attached white paper from an American colleague It seems that someone at Luxo in the USA has taken the bull by the horns and pretty clearly defined where LED solutions can and don’t work at least for now. I hope that this is the beginning of a realisation that LEDs are good for what they are good for and not a solution to everything! Click below to download and read the paper.

    Interesting…
    must link to this

…yes there was a constant apologetic gush
when ordinary light bulbs were banned
that ‘coming LEDs’ were so great

Good point in the document also mentioning the LED warranty time…
Similarly the CFLs that are supposed to last
8-10x longer than ordinary bulbs have very limited warranty times, even under Energy Star (US) mandate.

RE multiple LEDs (or halogens) as down-lights or side-lights replacing current lighting – and not necessarily saving energy compared to a previous more omni-directional sources,
ironically I posted on that too just yesterday

    Never understood the
“Use only X lights and save lots of money” argumentation anyway.

“Eat only bananas and save lots of money”
    ;-)

Hey (shock horror) maybe different lights have different uses and different values to different people.

“Being green doesn’t necessarily mean changing lamps!”
…and light bulbs don’t give out any CO2 gas!
