Kevan Shaw gives lecture in Iceland
Posted: July 9th, 2009 | Author: Emre Günes | Filed under: Blog | 2 Comments »Kevan Shaw, PLDA Director for Sustainability, visited Iceland and gave a lecture for the Light technical society about the incandescent phase-out. He also met with the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of the Environment where the issues were discussed in the context of Iceland’s almost 100% renewable electricity generation from Hydro electric and Geothermal sources.
Please see an Icelandic article about his visit and the ban of the light bulb.
For an English translation please see here.

Great to see this informative visit by Kevan.

It’s of course true that with the Icelandic application they might needlessly be sucked into the ban, perhaps their isolation can allow exemption (and visits by others to go bulb picking
Unfortunately in non-EU Norway, also hydro-powered,
there are increasing noises about introducing a ban “to let consumers save money”.
Switzerland is also already committed to a “phase-out” as I understand…. they could have had some useful clandestine cross border income otherwise!
The Ukraine…..?
Not sure that this is true:), but thanks for a post.
